I wanted to shine a quick spotlight on the Excess Materials Exchange (EME), a platform I’m working with that’s actively reshaping how we think about surplus materials.
What is EME?
EME is like a matchmaking service for materials - finding new for excess resources that would otherwise go to waste or low value recycling. Whether it’s structural steel, timber, glass, carpet tiles, furniture or even high-value industrial components, EME finds and connects those who have surplus with those who need it.
And the really cool thing is that this isn’t just about waste reduction, it’s about unlocking real financial and environmental value. These materials already exist, and reusing them cuts costs (from disposal/recycling), reduces emissions and supports the circular economy.
Zooming Out
Right now, the construction and property industries face a big challenge: how to reduce embodied carbon while keeping projects financially viable. One of the fastest, most impactful ways to do this is material reuse - and EME is leading the way in making this process seamless.
By leveraging data and matchmaking, EME is making sure materials don’t get scrapped or down-cycled (or even worse, landfilled) but instead stay in circulation where they belong.
Your Materials Need YOU 🫵🏻
If you’re looking for high-quality reclaimed materials, you don’t have to wait. There are materials on EME’s platform today, ready to be snapped up by you. One recent addition is over fifteen doors which are available right now.
Want to see what else is available, browse and then sign up. And if you have have surplus materials or need help sourcing please reach out to the team.
The shift toward circularity is happening, and platforms like EME are making it easier than ever to take part. Whether you’re looking to cut costs, lower your project’s carbon footprint, or tap into a smarter way of sourcing materials, now’s the time to get involved!
