A Roofing Revolution
Flameless, zero emissions, safe, all-electric roofing equipment
Before reading this piece, you should know there is a live demo of the Equipment this Thursday (27th Nov 2025, Farringdon)… get your name on the list!
As a CN Awards Judge, I’ve had the privilege of reviewing many products and innovations across the construction sector. Very few truly shift the needle. But every so often, something comes along that forces you to ask: “Why hasn’t the industry been doing this all along?”
Imperial Thermal Engineering is one of those rare cases.
Over the past few years, their team has picked up two CN Product Innovation Awards. The first was for the Etorch in 2023 and then again in 2025 for the Epot. That is impressive, but the real story is why they’ve won.
This is all-electric, flame-free, gas-free equipment designed specifically for hot-works roofing.
No LPG bottles
No traditional torches
No flame risk
Instead you get safer, cleaner, more controlled heat with a fraction of the hassle. And the icing on the cake is that it’s more efficient to run!
Why this matters for the industry
For anyone involved in roofing, property or construction risk management, the implications are big:
Safety: Eliminating open flame removes one of the sector’s highest-risk activities
Sustainability: Electrifying hot works removes fossil fuels from the process entirely
Efficiency: Faster warm-up, better control, lower energy consumption and simpler logistics
Insurance & Compliance: A flame-free process reduces hot-works exposure
The Eseries equipment solves long-standing, widely-felt challenges.
See it for yourself
Curious about how these systems work in practice? Well there’s an opportunity to see a live demonstration this Thursday morning in Farringdon, London. The team will be showcasing their E-Series line-up, including the Etorch and the Epot.
If you’re involved in roofing, procurement, sustainability or construction risk, it’s well worth seeing.
And finally, here’s a write up from 2023 on the back of their first CN Award win…
💡Best Product Innovation
This year I was fortunate to be a judge and presenter at the Construction News Awards, a well recognised badge of excellence rewarding the People, Pride and Passion of the industry. My category was Best Product Innovation and in this piece I’ll tell you a little bit about each of the shortlisted candidates, and the winner of course.
